New Kia Niro

Kia has extended their economical hybrid range with the all-new Niro. It joins the Soul and Optima as a stylish alternative to traditionally-powered vehicles.

Sharp, precise body lines give the Niro a sense of energy and poise. The dynamic shape is accented with a rear spoiler, matt black front grille and bright front fog lights. Solar glass is fitted for increased passenger comfort, and a wider door mirror is fitted on the driver's side. The use of LEDs across the body design mirrors the energy-saving hybrid setup under the smooth bonnet.

Every trim level has a different upholstery finish, and you can spot high-end models from the increased leather accents. All editions of the Niro come equipped with supportive front and rear armrests, dual automatic air conditioning and a foot-activated parking brake. These helpful additions immediately make the new hybrid a suitable Motability car.

Engines and performance

By pairing a potent 1.6-litre petrol engine and consistent electric motor, Kia has given the Niro substantial energy. It produces a total of 139bhp, and power steering makes that strength easier to take advantage of. The hybrid combination keeps efficiency high, and the car's fuel economy peaks at 74.3mpg combined.

Technology and safety

A Bluetooth connection keeps you linked up on every journey - and includes voice recognition for custom driver settings. Your favourite music can also join you, through the AUX and USB ports for mobile devices or with the MP3 compatibility built into the DAB digital radio.

Alongside features you will recognise and appreciate, several new systems arrive with the Niro. These include the Lane Keep Assist System, which helps you stay within your white lines. ABS and ESC are still there to support you, as are the twin front, side and curtain airbags with an intelligent roll-over sensor.
